Sails, Spars & Winches

The mainmast and mizzen mast are constructed of heavy section painted aluminum. They are held in place by 1 X 19 stainless wire with bronze turnbuckles for adjustment. Mainmast spreaders are constructed of wood. The sail track on the main is the “Tides” system of machined delrin to facilitate the “Batcars” of the full battened mainsail. The main and mizzen booms have bronze sail tracks. There is a barient backstay tensioner and Barient downhaul adjuster to facilitate sail conformation during different wind angles. A chrome plated bronze track is fitted on the forward section of the mast for adjustment of the aluminum spinnaker pole.  Both the main halyard and the 2 jib halyards are internal within the mast; all other auxiliary halyards are external. Alongside the mast at port and starboard placements there are bronze tracks to adjust either a “whisker” pole or a “Reaching Strut”.

2 primary Barient #32 self tailing 2 -speed winches along with 2 Barient 2- speed #16 auxiliary winches.  Mainsheet traveler is on a Ronstand stop  track controlled by 2 Merriman winches. Mainsheet winch is a Barient # 16 on the cabin top alongside the dodger. There are 2 Barient #16 winches forward of the mast for the “Jiffy” reef system. There is battery powered Lewmar V2 windlass forward to facilitate anchoring and ground tackle retrieval.
